Discounts and Deals
Offering discounts or deals can be a good way to make a business stand out and attract more customers. But think carefully about what to offer. Discounts or deals which are only for some customers could be considered unlawful discrimination.
Some discounts and deals come under exemptions in the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA) which allows discounts to fees, fares or admission tickets based on age or disability.
It is best to offer discounts and deals to all customers, but if unsure about a particular offer to a certain group, contact us for advice.
Discounts and deals also need to comply with the rules on fair trading and advertising. The Office of Consumer and Business Services administers the Fair Trading Act 1987 (SA) and can give you advice.
