The Office of the SA Commissioner for Equal Opportunity, in conjunction with the Adelaide Festival of Ideas, is delighted to present the 2018 Dame Roma Mitchell Oration
This year, Professor Gillian Triggs, Vice-Chancellor's Fellow, University of Melbourne Law School and Former President of the Australian Human Rights Commission will be in conversation with Dr Niki Vincent, SA Commissioner for Equal Opportunity on the following topic:
‘Lauded and vilified: The highs and lows of leadership in human rights’
To be held at 9.30am on Saturday 14th July 2018 at Allan Scott Auditorium, University of South Australia
When Professor Gillian Triggs took up the role of President of the Australian Human Rights Commission in 2012, she never anticipated was that she would become one of the most controversial and polarising statutory office-holders in Australia's history. In conversation with Dr Niki Vincent, Professor Triggs will explore the human rights issues at the forefront during her term, as well as the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’, the ‘lessons learned’ and her reflections on the gendered nature of public shaming from this time in her leadership career.
This is a free event and no booking is necessary
